I hold very deep Christian beliefs but am far from a traditionalist. I'm a former military "brat" and Sunday School teacher and was raised in mainly, Baptist and Southern Baptist churches. I have attended religious services at churches of many different denominations, mostly, Non-denominational, Pentecostal & AME, just to name a few. God has continuously blessed me that I am a fairly independent thinker and thrive on my own sense of individuality and my close personal relationship with him. I currently do not attend regular church services due to my personal belief that most christian churches today have veered from being the church Jesus founded, which is the body of Christ, and instead have become the lair of politicians, just like the biblical pharisees were running during Jesus' mortal time on this earth. These churches and their leaders were condemned by God for knowingly leading his children astray in their ignorance. My greatest faults (if you consider them faults) are my strong beliefs and my perfectionism. I tend to expect more of myself than I do of others and sometimes judge myself too harshly. I thank God, for he forgives me before I forgive myself. I believe God's gift of life to all of us, is a continuous learning experience. Not one in which we actually attain perfection on this mortal plain but we are blessed and embraced by God for the striving of it. I'm very passionate, but far from a heretic. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion and don't mind debating current issues or general topics for fun. I think we can only learn from our differences.
My Ideal Person:
Relationships are about balance. I'm looking for a good friend and lifetime companion who shares most of my basic life and religious beliefs. Someone who's idea of a good time is curling up together with a really good movie, loves old school R&B, enjoys cooking, has a sense of humor about life, is intelligent and well-spoken but not pushy, appreciates a good debate but not childish arguments, believes in God first and foremost and does not believe in blindly following the status quo. The most important things in my life are God, my family and my God-given abilities. On the light side, I love to be out and about on perfect sunny days. But when it's raining or snowing there's nothing better than being curled up with my significant other and a good movie or book.
